Sleep Dentistry

Oral conscious sedation has been dubbed “sleep dentistry,” because it will make you feel very drowsy, though you will actually be conscious throughout the procedure. With sleep dentistry, patients often feel as though they have only been in the dentist’s chair for a few minutes when in fact, several hours have gone by.

Sleep dentistry involves an oral medication that your doctor will prescribe. You will take the oral medication one hour prior to your appointment. The effects of oral sedation last 24 hours, so it’s important that a friend or family member drives you to and from the dental office.
