Murphy Family Dentistry

Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Rock Rapids, graduating from Central Lyon High School in 1989. After graduation, he attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE. In 1993 he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and in 1997 he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery, both from Creighton University. Kim Murphy is the wife of Dr. Joseph Murphy and also our office manager and dental assistant at Murphy Family Dentistry. Kim grew up in the Omaha NE area and attended the University of Nebraska where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. Dawn VandenTop is in charge of all front desk and schedule needs at Murphy Family Dentistry. She has been full time with our office since opening our new office in 2011. Previously, she was assistant manager at Casey's and worked with Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehab as well as K-products before deciding to stay at home with her children. Angela Reckert graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene and joined our team in 2015.  She is comfortable treating simple situations associated with children and adolescents, as well as the more complex problems encountered with adults.  Angie is certified in nitrous oxide and the administration of local anesthesia for optimal patient comfort as needed.  She is also certified to use the diode laser for advanced treatment of those patients with perio...Read Moredontal disease. Gina joined our office in 2015 after moving back to the area from Sioux Falls. Gina graduated from West Lyon in 2005 then went on to Iowa Western Community College and became certified in dental assisting. She later attended the University of South Dakota graduating in 2010 with her associates degree in dental hygiene. Jen Paulsen has been with Murphy Family Dentistry since August 2005. She has had specialized training with our E4D Cad Cam design center and is also qualified in dental radiography. Growing up in the Sioux Falls area Jen attended Lincoln High school. She later moved the Rock Rapids area. Mandy Telford has been with Dr. Murphy since 2009. She worked in Sioux Falls in the powersports industry for 10 years before changing careers to spend more time with her family. She is a registered dental assistant with radiography certification and expanded functions. She is married to Rob Telford and has 2 sons, Seth and Kole all of Rock Rapids, IA. She grew up in the Doon/Rock Rapids area and graduated from Central Lyon High School. She enjoys riding ATVs with her family and singing karaoke.

Deidre joined the team at Murphy Dentistry in January 2011. She is a registered dental assistant with CPR/AED certification, dental radiography and expanded functions.
