Dr. Newkirk is a member of the American Dental Association and a delegate for the Kansas Dental Association. She has served as the President of the First District of the Kansas Dental Association and the Douglas County Dental Association. She was appointed to the UMKC School of Dentistry Dental Alumni Association Board. She also participates as a member of the Spear Study Club, which is a select group of dentists who meet monthly for continuing education and to discuss complex cases. She is also a member of the American College of Dentist, the oldest major honorary organization for dentist. Their mission is to advance excellence, ethics, professionalism, and leadership in dentistry. She is a founding member of the Lawrence chapter of the National Charity League. She volunteers at the Douglas County Dental Clinic and Free Dental Day as well as the Kansas Mission of Mercy. Dr. Brad Adams grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa, and since high school he knew he wanted to be a dentist. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Accounting. While at ISU, he was very involved in his fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. He was also a walk-on running back for the football team which led to him earning a varsity letter and the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Big 12’s highest academic achievement honor. Brad currently serves on the Kansas Dental Association Board of Trustees, and is a past president of the Kansas Dental Association First District. In July 2016, Brad married the love of his life and long-time girlfriend, Abby. They met while living in the dorms at Iowa State and she has supported him on his journey ever since. In 2019 their son Charlie was born. In Brad’s spare time he enjoys being active outside. He likes to run, play soccer, and golf. He also likes to work in his garden and enjoys small carpentry projects around the home. Being a dentist in Lawrence truly brings a smile to Brad’s face every day, and it is his goal that he can do the same for all his patients. A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Dr. Kailah Willms comes to our practice with great experience in all phases of dentistry. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Chemistry and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry which included rotations in the areas of geriatrics and special care. Born and raised in Springfield Missouri, Dr. Chris Pham received his undergraduate degree from The University of Missouri-Kansas City while majoring in Chemistry. He then continued his education at The University of Missouri-Kansas City receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. This award recognizes a senior dental student who has excelled in research and the academic and clinical aspects of the dental program. Emphasis is placed on the recipients’ contributions to dental literature and outstanding service to the profession. In his free time, Dr. Pham values spending time with family and friends.
