Dr. Vargas received his dental degree from Xavier University in Bogotá, Colombia in 1984. In the fall of 1988, he started two post-graduate programs at the prestigious State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He simultaneously worked on a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Oral Sciences. He completed his Certificate in Prosthodontics in 1990 and his Masters in 1991. Dr. Vargas moved to Maryland and began practicing in Bowie in 1991. He was also invited to become a Clinical Instructor at the University of Maryland Dental School, where he taught for two years. He’s a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Maryland State Dental Association. Dr. Vargas maintains a strong connection with the Senior Citizens of Bowie. He is a rabid Redskins and Nationals fan, and he also enjoys following Formula One racing. Dr. Merguerian is originally from Toms River, NJ & came to Maryland to get her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. She went on to get her DDS from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry & completed her residency at the Baltimore VA where she had extensive training in surgical procedures including wisdom teeth extractions & placing implants as well as training in root canal therapy, cosmetic dentistry, & prosthodontics. Kathleen has been in the dental field for over ten years and working with Dr. Vargas for seven years. Her expertise in management all aspects of patient care completes our front office strengths. Kathleen is a life-long Bowie resident. She enjoys reading, exercising and spending time with her family.

Kathy graduated from Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York in 1987 with a degree in dental hygiene. Through the years, she has enjoyed working with general dentists, periodontists and orthodontists. Kathy is a positive, experienced team member who has worked at the office since 2009. She lives in Crofton, where she enjoys cooking and baking for her family and friends.
